- About Me
My journey in child therapy began when I trained and worked as an early years educator for children aged birth to 6 years. During that time I became interested in both the benefits of play but also early intervention services that provided emotional support for children and young people. I firstly completed FETAC Level 6 in Therapeutic Play Skills and this opened my eyes to the wonderful world of play therapy.
I am a fully qualified Play Therapist and Psychotherapist and a member of the Irish Association for Play Therapy and Psychotherapy and the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy.
I have ten years’ experience working with children/teenagers, their families and schools. I provide Play Therapy and Psychotherapy for children and adolescents with a wide range of emotional and behavioural difficulties such as anxiety, anger, bereavement, separation, bullying, low self-esteem, trauma, autism and learning difficulties.
I value the role of parents in my work and I take the approach of a family systemic model. I believe that children cannot change on their own, they need the support of a trusted adult.
In addition to my work in the playroom and therapy centre I facilitate workshops on An Insight into Play Therapy, Helping Children with their Big Feelings, Parenting an Anxious Child and Sensory and Messy Play.
Since 2018, I also work as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist at the CARI foundation in Limerick, an organisation that provides therapy and support to children and their families who have been affected by child sexual abuse.
I am fully Garda vetted and have completed Child Protection Training.
