Rainy Day Playdough

There are many benefits of children using playdough and the play opportunities are endless. This recipe uses ingredients that you will have in your home and it will last in an air tight container for over a week, you can keep it in the fridge. The major benefit of making your own playdough is that you know exactly what is going into it, and your child can help you make it too which adds to the fun!

Recipe

2 cups plain flour

2 tbsp baby oil (or you can use coconut oil)

1/2 cup salt

2 tbsp cream of tartar

up to 1.5 cups of warm water

OPTIONAL- Food Colouring, Paint, Glitter

Method

In a bowl- mix the flour, salt, cream of tartar and the oil together

Add the food colouring or paint

Add the warm water and stir until it all combines together

Put the mixture on to a table and knead the mixture for a few minutes and until the stickiness is gone- you may need to add more flour at this point. Keep going until the dough is not sticky and it’s the perfect consistency.

There are loads of inspiring ideas on Pinterest on different types of playdough, and follow your child’s interests on deciding on a theme.
